Why people put off ....unfriendly, clique, hypocrite ...church history
Love the Lord you God ....love your neighbour ...so why has church strayed?
Non Christian leaders ...power, prestige and wealth as church became politically powerful
Elastic use of the word christian ... Can be good, but a label for someone who does good deeds or if born in a Christian country
Christians are sinners...yes but it is because we know we are not good that makes Jesus Christ so important ..he is rescuer from selfishness, indulgence, lust, pride, jealousy, indifference to others
It is not the healthy that need a doctor, but the sick...the process of salvation starts on earth ..all a work in progress
Guilt not necessarily a bad thing ...unfocused feelings of guilt are unhealthy ...there is only hope for the sinner if they feel guilt ..psychopath feels no guilt ...needs to lead to repentance and restoration
Sin ...Christianity not interested in sin, but the forgiveness of sin and liberation from it's power
Poster outside Norre Dame in Paris ...sin is the refusal to grow bigger ...need to enlarge our vision and concerns ..sin when we settle for an undemanding life and refuse to accept the challenge of service and love
Alcoholics need to accept they are one and incapable of helping themselves
Christianity is a rescue operation
Sin is breaking God's law .....self-centredness
Jesus stands for thoughtfulness, kindness, forgiveness, cooperation, openness, generosity and love ...I have come that they may have life and have it to the full John 10:10
All need to be challenged, changed, inspired and strengthened if we are to have a wider vision and a bigger heart ...he came to free us from fear, anxiety and self-centredness ...we can live in joy, peace and love
Being a Christian means .... Being a person in whom (Jesus') life and character and power are manifest and energised ...accepting and receiving a new quality of life ...a life infinitely more profound and dynamic and meaningful than human life without Christ Harry Williams, Anglican monk
